The story of Old Mary is one of love, intrigue and tragedy, and now cocktails and craft beers too in what used to be the servant’s quarters of the original house.

Hidden in the basement of the Grade II listed townhouse pub, The Mitre, sits cocktail bar, Old Mary's.
The building's history can be traced back to the 1850's and while the bar's three separate rooms will all have their own identities they will be in keeping with the Victorian style of the building.
Under the arches, amongst the beautifully exposed brick interior and in low atmospheric lighting, Old Mary's serve classic cocktails with unique and innovative twists.

So far, so familiar, but its basement holds something unexpected, namely a cocktail bar, housed in a Dickensian warren of rooms and corridors, which takes its name, slightly ghoulishly, from the resident ghost a former mistress of the building's one-time owner Lord Craven, who was found murdered in the scullery.
Though run by one of the big breweries, the bar serves a nice line in classic cocktails, all of which are elegantly presented in vintage glassware, alongside a range of craft beers.
The space is atmospheric, making the most of its historic setting, and table service further distances it from the pub above.
They stock an extensive range of bottled craft beers and if you're hungry they serve a selection of superior US-style hotdogs, topped with your choice of shaved pepper pastrami, low cooked pulled bbq pork or wild boar chilli, beer fodder of the very best kind.
